Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET (or acceptable alternative: Bachelor's in engineering (non-ABET) plus Master's or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program)
For Engineer Associate (SG-6): Entry-level position for new graduates; passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination encouraged and preferred
For Engineer (SG-7): Typically 2 or more years of related engineering experience (Master's from ABET-accredited program may allow entry at this level)
For Engineer Sr (SG-8): Typically 6 or more years of related engineering experience with Bachelor's from ABET-accredited program, or 4 or more years with Master's or PhD from ABET-accredited program
Responsibilities
Apply entry-level engineering knowledge to perform work activities and projects in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic manner
Demonstrate entry-level knowledge in applying theory to solve defined problems and assist higher-level engineers with complex analyses
Familiarize with relevant standards, codes, regulations, equipment, materials, systems, and business processes
Coordinate routine engineering tasks under supervision of senior employees
Provide input to project planning documents, understand scheduling techniques (e.g., CPM, PERT), monitor project status, and prepare cost estimates
Accomplish work according to established plans and schedules
Seek out information to understand engineering problems and apply basic techniques for analyzing routine technical issues
Proactively present new ideas and approaches
Assist in preparing reports and technical documents; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; listen to and clarify instructions
Network with peers, understand others' perspectives, build relationships, and demonstrate teamwork
Understand decision-making boundaries, develop skills under guidance, and contribute to team decisions
Listen to and satisfy internal/external customers, apply economic analysis in problem-solving, and participate in professional organizations
