Requirements

  • Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials from nationally recognized law school
  • 8+ years legal practice in employment law
  • 3+ years law firm or government experience litigating in employment law
  • Work on-site at least 3 days per week at one of: Northridge, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Duluth, GA; San Antonio, TX

Responsibilities

  • Advise and counsel business clients and management on legal issues related to employment law, workplace conduct and employee relations
  • Identify and manage internal and external legal resources as required to provide high-quality legal services at a reasonable cost
  • Supervise paralegal and administrative support personnel
  • Negotiate and prepare comprehensive contracts and agreements
  • Partner closely with HR teams and provide legal advice related to labor and employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace investigations, employment-related agreements (including change in control agreements, severance agreements, retention agreements, employment agreements, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements), labor issues, labor and employment litigation, employee discipline, wrongful termination, employee drug testing and background checks, employee rights, employment at will, immigration compliance (including E-Verify), wage/hour, compensation and bonus plans, leave of absence laws, reductions in force and restructures, WARN, outsourcing, human resources policies, employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and affirmative action
  • Investigate and respond to all labor and employment complaints filed by employees or former employees, including charges filed with the EEOC, NLRB, DOL and corresponding state agencies
  • Oversee affirmative action compliance and responses to OFCCP audits and reviews
