Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED Certificate
  • Ontario Electrical License (442A or 309A)
  • Electronic Technician Certificate (asset)
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron PLC’s and Variable in a controlled and regulated environment
  • Familiar with GMPs, GAMP4/5 and 21 CFR part 11
  • Superior written and oral skills
  • Detail oriented and organized, with high degree of accuracy and thoroughness
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong judgment, decision making and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient with the English language
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Adherence to GMP Safety Standards and Cleanroom requirements (no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair; no contact lenses)
  • Ability to work with PPE, loud noises, strong odors, hazardous/toxic materials, heights, various weather conditions, and rotating shifts (Continental schedule including days/nights/weekends/maintenance shutdowns)

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot electronic components on production and building support equipment
  • Perform equipment and systems’ electrical/electronics upgrades to Patheon Inc. safety standards
  • Perform calibration of electronic sensors, control devices and instrumentation, including environmental controls
  • Liaise with internal/external customers/inspections related to area of expertise
  • Maintain updated records of changes on documents such as manuals, schematics, drawings, etc
  • Maintain automation systems, electro-pneumatic circuits and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming
  • Document applicable work activities performed within a CMMS Program
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work as well as work during maintenance shutdowns
  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Work harmoniously with team members, modeling positive team principles
  • Carry out duties in compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific quality systems SOPs and GMP
  • Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Adhere to departmental systems for smooth workflow (visual management, scheduling, etc.)
  • Be client and patient conscious
  • Understand KPIs, identify improvements, engage in problem solving
  • Model positive thinking, adapt to changes, motivate team
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in procedures
  • Communicate risks to timelines proactively
