Requirements

  • Associates degree in Electromechanical Technology or Electronic Engineering Technology, or an electrical license, or equivalent
  • 5 years relevant work experience as an automation technician or other related position
  • Troubleshooting skills and experience

  • 6 years in industrial setting or Pharmaceutical GMP environment
  • Knowledge in interpreting and applying specifications, blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions for installation, repair, and modification work
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing process equipment and systems including automated material handling of solids and liquids, lean manufacturing practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including validation issues and change control processes
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety compliance
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Root cause analyst knowledge
  • Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge (e.g. SAP)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and modify electrical and mechanical systems within a GMP production environment
  • Perform complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of automated packaging, manufacturing and material handling equipment within a GMP working environment
  • Disassemble equipment to remove parts and make repairs; examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear; repair and replace broken and malfunctioning components
  • Maintain PC applications for control systems; PLC programming for material handling systems, production equipment and packaging equipment
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and repair of process measuring devices involved in ensuring weight, temperature, humidity, speed, volume, count, length, pH, and other factors
  • Execute calibration procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of GMP production equipment
  • Observe and test machinery and equipment; analyse information obtained from operators to diagnose malfunctions and equipment problems
  • Troubleshoot and perform limited programming on electronic control systems
  • Research, write and revise technical documentation pertaining to production equipment
  • Provide technical assistance for investigations when equipment or system failure occurs, such as completing Root Cause Analysis
  • Document maintenance work following the ALCOA principles; record repairs and maintenance performed; record parts and materials used, and order new parts and materials as necessary
