Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, ideally in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, or large industrial facilities
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proven experience leading the design of complex mechanical systems — from concept through construction documentation

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design strategy and execution for Galaxy’s Data Center program, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and scalability goals
  • Drive all aspects of mechanical design and engineering deliverables — from concept through detailed design, construction documents, and specifications
  • Partner closely with electrical, structural, IT, and operations teams to ensure a seamless, integrated facility design
  • Provide technical leadership to external design consultants and internal engineers, ensuring adherence to Galaxy’s design standards and best practices
  • Oversee design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments to balance technical performance, cost, and schedule
  • Guide mechanical system architecture including HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, air-handling, and advanced thermal management for AI/HPC workloads
  • Support the commissioning process validating system performance, ensuring as-built accuracy, and supporting handover to operations
  • Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, specifications, and quality benchmarks across all data center projects
  • Evaluate and implement innovative cooling technologies — including modular, liquid, and immersion cooling systems — to enhance efficiency and sustainability
  • Manage vendor relationships, draft specifications, and oversee the selection of major mechanical equipment and systems
  • Support project planning, cost estimating, and scheduling efforts in collaboration with PMO and construction delivery teams
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership, presenting engineering insights, risks, and recommendations
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
