Requirements

Based in Sydney and available to work full time in Sydney offices, Monday to Friday
Expertise in designing substation primary engineering for electrical substation projects up to 500kV
Ability to identify relevant standards and local customer requirements, ensuring compliance with National/International Standards and contract specifications
Understanding of how various considerations and constraints affect the design and ability to develop different solutions as part of the design optimisation process
Capability to coordinate interference checker and resolve clashes to ensure clash-free design based on discipline-defined clash checks
Proficiency in preparing substation design calculations (e.g., earthing design, busbar sizing, SC force calculations, lightning protection, battery sizing, cable sizing, cable schedules, circuit breaker selection, bus fittings, insulator selection, transformer sizing, arrester selection)
Experience in defining primary design subsystems and bills of material to enable accurate costing
Knowledge to ensure designs are safe, adhere to required electrical clearances, and provide provisions for maintenance
Direct responsibility for substation outdoor physical design, including general substation arrangement, layout, plan and elevation drawings, transformer/reactor yards design, high voltage bus layouts, cable and equipment layouts, grounding, and control buildings

Responsibilities

Design substation primary engineering for electrical substation projects up to 500kV
Identify all relevant standards and local customer requirements, ensuring compliance
Understand design considerations/constraints and develop optimised solutions
Coordinate interference checker and resolve clashes for clash-free design
Prepare substation design calculations (e.g., earthing, busbar sizing, SC force, lightning protection, battery/cable sizing, schedules, breaker/bus/insulator/transformer/arrester selection)
Define primary design subsystems and bills of material for accurate costing
Ensure designs are safe, meet electrical clearances, and include maintenance provisions
Manage substation outdoor physical design (arrangement/layout drawings, transformer/reactor yards, HV bus/cable/equipment/conduit/wiring/grounding/control buildings)
Write high voltage equipment specifications
Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, procurement, construction, quality assurance) to deliver projects on time, within scope, to high standards of quality and safety
