Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, life sciences, biotechnology, or related field
  • Professional EHS certifications such as EHS / Risk Management / Nebosh / IOSH (advantageous but not mandatory)
  • Familiarity with local and national environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written); Dutch proficiency advantageous
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of EHS auditing and inspection procedures
  • Experience in Lean and/or Practical Process Improvement (PPI)
  • Experience working in a biotech manufacturing company and/or ISO/GMP certified facility
  • Open to improvements and capable of adapting to change
  • Able to influence in a matrix organization
  • Committed, with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Guarantee full compliance with all applicable local and national EHS regulations, regularly monitor changes, and proactively update EHS procedures
  • Manage EHS programs within budget
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis using Intelex
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and minimize workplace incidents
  • Build, develop, and deliver EHS training programs for employees using SFLMS
  • Assess training needs and adapt programs to ensure employees are informed about safe work practices and emergency response protocols
  • Serve as a key member of the site emergency response and incident management team
  • Lead all aspects of environmental programs, including waste management and sustainability initiatives
  • Implement practices to reduce the company’s environmental footprint while maintaining compliance
  • Support new environmental initiatives in EMEA
  • Undertake scheduled EHS audits and inspections to appraise program efficiency and identify improvements
  • Develop action plans to address audit findings
  • Participate in ISO/GMP audits as necessary
  • Stay informed about EHS trends, technologies, and guidelines
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and innovations to improve EHS performance
  • Drive, deliver, implement, and report on efficiency projects in the EMEA region
  • Support EHS activities in other sites in the Netherlands up to 50% of the time
