Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with training or certification in a relevant skill or trade
  • Successful completion of a CDL Driver Training Course is a plus
  • Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Must maintain a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate and Compliance Certificate
  • 1–2 years of relevant driving experience preferred
  • Clean driving record with no recent moving violations
  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, etc.)
  • Willingness to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment references
  • Ability to work in environments with high noise levels, withstand exposure to extreme temperatures, stand or remain stationary for prolonged periods, perform repetitive movements, bending, and twisting, lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds, traverse facilities and work around dust/chemicals/other substances, and wear required PPE

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies
  • Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
  • Transport finished goods and raw materials to and from manufacturing plants, retail, or distribution centers
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and safety concerns; perform preventative maintenance
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
  • Document and maintain accurate trip records, including driver’s logbook, equipment inspection logs, trip reports, daily timesheets, fuel and toll receipts, load weight tickets, and customer delivery receipts
  • Input “macros” into the automated system for each stage of loading and unloading
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as company policies
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions safely
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly
