Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate's degree (Preferred) in Business Administration or college coursework in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or other related area
  • Two years of logistics/transportation experience
  • Basic knowledge of dispatch operations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills; ability to interact with associates at all levels and external customers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Good problem-solving and follow-up skills
  • Working knowledge of logistics operations
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word)
  • Basic knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and familiarity with transportation systems; Cadec experience preferred
  • Physical ability to lift and/or move 20 pounds; frequently required to sit/stand/walk

Responsibilities

  • Dispatch driver schedules/routes for load pick-up and deliveries
  • Work with customers and warehouse operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient operations while providing a high level of customer service
  • Ensure timely follow-up, resolution, and response to any route planning or delivery timing issues; work with Transportation Supervisors as appropriate
  • Maintain and update the department dispatch/communication log/software according to department procedures
  • Ensure information is accurate and up-to-date so drivers understand all requirements for scheduled delivery/pick-up (e.g., equipment/truck/trailer used, delivery location, pick-up/delivery time, and documentation procedures)
  • Review, verify, and process driver delivery paperwork
  • Ensure adherence to company safety and sanitation policies and procedures, as well as all DOT rules and regulations
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and drivers
  • Assist with coordinating delivery changes, monitoring on-board computers, log reports, and maintenance schedules, and submitting necessary information to payroll clerk
  • Work with Transportation/Logistics team to schedule appointments and assist drivers with questions or issues related to delivery appointments
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
