Requirements

  • Experience leading PMO functions and collaborating with divisional leadership to manage clinical portfolios
  • Expertise in shaping and implementing global clinical strategies/portfolios aligned with product and portfolio strategies
  • Ability to manage teams of project/program managers focused on clinical trials and projects
  • Strong partnership skills with external stakeholders (e.g., study investigators, KOLs, core labs, CROs) and internal cross-divisional stakeholders
  • Proficiency in optimizing timelines, driving cost efficiencies, and standardizing portfolio, program, and project management best practices
  • Knowledge of clinical research for regulatory submissions, podium presentations, and publications
  • People management skills, including inspiring, mentoring, and developing staff
  • Experience with clinical trial planning, execution, close-out, and governance (e.g., Project Investment Board)
  • Familiarity with quality, regulatory commitments, SOPs, and risk management in clinical environments

Responsibilities

  • Work with Divisional Leadership, KOLs, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and regional organizations to shape and implement global clinical strategy/study portfolio
  • Present study proposals to Divisional Leadership after vetting with internal stakeholders
  • Leverage product differentiating aspects to improve safety, efficacy, speed, and efficiency
  • Manage team of managers accountable for end-to-end clinical project management (planning, execution, close-out)
  • Ensure strategic alliances with monitors, core labs, CROs, consultants for safe clinical trial conduct
  • Meet routinely with KOLs, Principal Investigators, and external constituents for study performance, strategy, and customer input
  • Co-lead and manage Project Investment Board (PIB) governance, evaluating tradeoffs
  • Manage divisional clinical portfolio scope, budgets, schedules, performance standards, timelines, processes, and cost efficiencies
  • Influence and vote on divisional clinical portfolio spend decisions
  • Work with external committees (e.g., Medical Advisory Boards, Steering Committees, Publication Committees) on trial issues
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality, and regulatory commitments
  • Assess and enhance consolidated risk profile; set tone for risk-taking
  • Develop PMO resourcing and competency development strategies
  • Advance stakeholder strategies for collaboration and partnerships
  • Implement consolidated communications strategy and cross-functional best practices
  • Coach on effective meeting management and group facilitation
