Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within an engineering organization. Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring engineering teams is essential, as is a deep understanding of software development methodologies and best practices. A strong understanding of open-source software development and community engagement is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering, MediaWiki will lead teams responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the MediaWiki platform, ensuring its stability, reliability, and optimal performance. They will collaborate with the Director of Product to develop and execute strategic roadmaps, manage engineering delivery, and oversee the hiring, coaching, and development of engineering managers and individual contributors. Furthermore, they will participate in organizational development, planning, budgeting, and managing expense priorities within the MediaWiki Engineering cost center, and collaborate with other engineering leaders to ensure the overall success of the platform.
