Requirements

  • Required education, experience/skills/training (minimum and preferred, inclusive of licenses/certs and functional experience)
  • Experience managing and developing senior managers and technical leads across multiple playback domains
  • Expertise in media player engineering spanning device pipelines, player engines, browser integrations, and client applications across mobile, web, living room devices, and set-top boxes
  • Knowledge of playback systems for scale, resiliency, low latency, live and on-demand streaming globally
  • Familiarity with ads, monetization, HLS interstitials, and ad tech integrations
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with backend streaming infrastructure, CDN, DRM/security, and client teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and strategic direction for Core Player Engineering across VOD and Live, devices including mobile, living room, console, web, and set-top boxes (20% - Drive strategic player strategy to achieve business objectives)
  • Manage team roadmap and execution, ensuring date commitments are met across Core Player teams (40%)
  • Lead leaders and senior engineers, including career management and development (20%)
  • Ensure engineering excellence and quality (20%)
  • Champion observability, data-driven decision making, and playback quality metrics to improve reliability and user experience
  • Accomplish business objectives including feature changes in players, expanded device coverage, and global distribution
  • Guide teams on ads and monetization, emphasizing HLS interstitials and ad tech integrations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with backend streaming infrastructure, CDN, DRM/security, and client teams
  • Recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineers and leaders, building a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence
