Requirements

Serve as a legal subject matter expert in consumer and automotive finance regulation
Work closely with business units in a cross-functional capacity to minimize risk, ensure best practices, and support business growth
Exercise management authority concerning budgeting, staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations
Set departmental goals and develop and maintain a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the business

Responsibilities

Provide support to the company’s General Counsel in legal and compliance related activities
Provide legal counsel on contract, litigation, and regulatory matters
Advise on the legal impact of compliance risks
Provide comprehensive legal advice to the business on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements to ensure alignment with company interests and compliance with laws
Manage and oversee legal review of all contracts with third party vendors; maintain records related to contracts
Implement staffing and procedural strategies to streamline efficiency of contract reviews
Manage the company’s Regulatory Change Management (“RCM”) function: develop and manage processes to monitor updates to statutes, rules, and regulations; identify legal risks; advise on mitigation strategies; provide oversight of implementation; manage, support, track, and report on operational changes and controls by Compliance for enterprise-wide alignment
Oversee the management of all litigation, working with external counsel as needed; provide litigation strategies and review pleadings, settlement agreements, and invoices
Develop and implement corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders such as executive leadership, compliance, operational leaders, and external parties to provide legal guidance
