Requirements

  • Portfolio with color application across collections and product categories
  • Bachelor’s degree in design (or suitable combination of education, experience, and training)
  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in a design environment working with materials, textiles, and/or color trends (ideally direct experience in accessories, footwear, and apparel product creation)
  • Strong collaboration skills, including coordinating with multiple partners to ensure accuracy of produced designs and creating palettes based on category color strategy
  • Strong understanding of color technology at a detail level (materials, dyes, finishes, and color achievability)
  • Ability to plan and execute product color details, review samples, troubleshoot achievability issues, and communicate changes for timely project completion
  • Skilled in presenting work in front of large groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work across multiple seasons and priorities
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Keynote on Mac platform
  • Experience in 3D programs such as CLO (preferred)
  • Passion for color and design

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Design Triad (Product Design, Color, Graphics/Print), Product Line Managers, Merchandising, Color/Material/Trim Development, and Technical Development
  • Elevate the Nike product experience focusing on the art and science of color to drive emotional connection for athletes and sport through strategy and storytelling
  • Translate seasonal creative direction into trend-relevant, sport-right, and consumer-right color across accessories (bags, socks, headwear, equipment)
  • Research and deliver on color, design, market, sport, and lifestyle trends influencing product aesthetic, application, and consumer identities
  • Implement color application and strategy at product and detail level with focus on color harmony, proportion, and balance within collections
  • Drive color excellence through collaboration with design, business, development, and manufacturing to achieve desired color effects (dyes, finishes, color achievability)
