Candidates should possess an Associate degree in applied science (AAS) drafting and computer aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, with one to two years of relevant equivalent experience. Alternatively, a high school graduate with six years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and computer-aided drafting work is acceptable. Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault, along with familiarity with PLS-CADD, is required. Candidates must also be available for work.
The Designer will perform computer-aided drafting to prepare and maintain maps, sketches, schematics, and other engineering-related drawings with minimal supervision. They will also prepare study layouts, design development, cost estimating, check drawings, and peer review deliverables with direct to moderate supervision. Responsibilities include gathering information from field notes, vendor catalogs, and site visits, performing necessary calculations, reviewing peer work, collaborating with other departments, assessing designs for strength and conformity, integrating vendor specifications, preparing estimates and requisitions, and providing guidance to junior employees. The role also involves promoting safety and adhering to corporate policies.
