Candidates must possess a Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering, and a minimum of 15 years of experience in database design, development, and migration specifically within Azure environments. They should have hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, COSMOS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, along with demonstrated expertise in migrating large databases (1TB or greater) across multiple database engines. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have experience with heterogenous database migrations, performance optimization techniques, and database administration, including HA/DR and monitoring setup such as backup/restore and replication.
The DB Migration Engineer will analyze on-premises/Azure transactional database environments, including Oracle, SQL Server, COSMOS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, to evaluate and plan migrations to Azure. They will develop and enhance database PLSQL scripts/TSQL to facilitate the migration from source to target databases, identify workarounds for specific issues, create test plans and test cases to ensure database readiness, and document detailed design and migration steps for ongoing migrations from development to production. Additionally, they will be responsible for troubleshooting high-end issues and communicating effectively.
