Requirements
- Strong experience with MongoDB administration and optimization
- Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, DocumentDB, RDS)
- Expertise in AWS CDK with TypeScript for Infrastructure as Code
- Familiarity with observability tools (New Relic, CloudWatch, Datadog) and disaster recovery strategies
- Understanding of networking concepts (VPC, Transit Gateway)
- At least 10 years as a DBA, including 3 years with AWS
- Nice-to-Have: Experience with Kubernetes (EKS)
- Nice-to-Have: AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate certified
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade MongoDB instances on AWS (EC2, DocumentDB, or self-hosted)
- Perform proactive performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery strategies
- Implement high availability solutions such as replica sets and sharding
- Deploy and manage MongoDB using AWS services like EC2 and DocumentDB
- Utilize AWS tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM for monitoring and security
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK with TypeScript for database provisioning and automation
- Enforce database security policies, encryption, and access controls
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2) and internal governance
- Monitor system health and performance metrics
- Troubleshoot database and AWS-related issues promptly
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and operational procedures
- Work closely with Cloud Operations and Application teams for migrations and integrations
- Participate in planning and execution of database modernization initiatives
