Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of patient data experience or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of experience in a quantitative field such as public health, health economics, biostatistics, computer science, statistics, computational biology, or biomedical engineering. For a Senior Data Scientist role, a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or a Master's/PhD with 3+ years of experience is required. A minimum of 1 year of experience querying and curating structured and unstructured electronic health record data is necessary, with 3 years required for the Senior DS role. Demonstrated ability to execute robust analytical strategies using healthcare databases, including electronic health records, administrative claims databases, and/or patient registries, is essential. Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization using Python is a must.
The Data Scientist will work closely with a cross-functional data science team to optimize patient data utilization and ensure high-quality datasets for research and development. Responsibilities include supporting data harmonization standards, curation strategy, and mappings of clinical concepts from electronic medical record and biobank registry databases. They will break down business and research requirements into actionable steps, lead data analysis and feasibility studies, and contribute to deliverables for stakeholders. The role also involves supporting the development and maintenance of user-driven tools for data process generalization and automation in real-world data studies and machine learning projects. Candidates will perform high-quality, reproducible analysis in a cloud environment using R or Python and actively participate in team activities like code reviews and sharing updates.
