Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates must possess an active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI, and have 4+ years of applied data research, modeling, evaluation, and deployment to production. They should have 4+ years of experience implementing scalable models and techniques, monitoring performance and accuracy, and responding to elasticity in data, time, and users. Additionally, 4+ years of experience designing and implementing data curation techniques, specifically for imagery, is required. Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines, including Kubeflow pipelines, working with imagery data (overhead imagery, optical, or SAR), and synthetic data is necessary. Familiarity with image classification, object detection, and change detection in computer vision workflows, along with knowledge of AI workloads, workflows, and infrastructures, is expected. A strong understanding of operational security and information security practices, as well as experience with machine and deep learning libraries like Scikit-learn and PyTorch, proficiency in Python, and experience with Git version control systems are essential. Familiarity with earth observation sensor modalities and remote sensing workflows, and an understanding of Department of Defense mission operations, requirements, and decision flows are also required.
The Data Scientist will support disruptive Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics to enhance national security by developing cutting-edge software, leveraging Cloud and hybrid infrastructures for AI workloads, and integrating with clients to understand mission critical functions. They will explore new ideas, adopt new technology, develop modern defense approaches, and create solutions to novel problems. Responsibilities include integrating with engineers and national security experts, developing and maturing advanced techniques, fusing multiple data sources, constructing AI workload pipelines, and assessing opportunities to leverage domain dominance. The role involves enhancing the efficacy of computer vision assets in scalable and secure manners to produce mission advantages and adversarial disadvantages while complying with CMMI and ISSO standards. Specific duties include leading, coaching, and mentoring teams, implementing best practices for a production-focused data science lifecycle, researching, transforming, organizing, and optimizing data for machine learning algorithms, and generating synthetic data sets. Building and securing data pipelines, collaborating with stakeholders to define data and modeling requirements, implementing and optimizing coding products, advising on and deploying data engineering practices on high-performance architectures, preparing clear documentation and reports, and abiding by operational security, information security, and client risk management frameworks are also key responsibilities.
