Requirements

Candidates should possess a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software, or Computer Engineering, or a related field. They need 1-5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a similar role, with 1-5 years specifically in developing production-level systems using Java and the Spring framework. The role also requires 1-3 years of experience in API design and implementation, and 1-3 years in designing, building, and maintaining production-level application containerization using technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift. Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles is essential, with familiarity in gRPC, Protobuf, Apache Avro, Apache Beam, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Apache Ignite being advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Data Platform Developer will develop and maintain new data infrastructure platforms, managing data ingestion, digestion, orchestration, and applications. They will develop and optimize distributed systems for real-time and batch telematics data processing, and create processes to enrich Geotab's big data with telematics data at scale. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing logging, monitoring, and alerting services to ensure the health of the big data infrastructure, working with data scientists to understand data processing needs and develop infrastructure solutions, and creating and maintaining documentation for architecture, requirements, and process flows. Additionally, the role involves supporting internal Geotab teams with data integration into newly developed big data platforms.
