Position Overview

NielsenIQ Technology teams are developing a new unified, global, open data ecosystem called "Activate," powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients worldwide depend on NielsenIQ's data and insights for innovation and growth. As a Big Data Engineer, you will join a team of skilled technologists focused on learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. The current platform utilizes Python, Databricks, Snowflake, Dask, Pandas, Spark data frames, and Apache Airflow, with a continuous adoption of best-in-class Azure cloud-native, low-latency technologies. We emphasize CI/CD with GitHub Actions in all development. The team operates in an agile, co-located environment with central technology hubs in Mexico, Canada, Israel, and India, utilizing Jira and SCRUM methodology while interacting with global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Write complex, maintainable code to develop scalable, flexible, and user-friendly applications using backend Python and associated technologies.
  • Develop highly available, high-performance, cloud-native applications.
  • Leverage multiple first- and third-party data sources.
  • Develop highly efficient data access RESTful APIs against data stored in Relational and NoSQL databases.

Requirements

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in back-end object-oriented programming, with proficiency in Python and Big Data.
  • Sound SDLC skills, preferably with experience in an agile environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business.
  • Desirable: Experience integrating RESTful APIs and an understanding of microservices architecture.
