Security Engineer at Unit 410

Position Overview

Unit 410 is seeking a Security Engineer to join our team and secure the edge of crypto infrastructure and systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that influence the broader crypto industry. You will collaborate across Engineering teams, leading and implementing security improvements across our entire stack, from designing cold storage and building airgapped systems to developing high-signal threat detections. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys deep dives, thinking like an attacker, and building robust defenses.

What You'll Be Doing

• Fortify Wallets: Design secure-by-default wallet architectures that interact with emerging crypto protocols. Partner closely with other engineers to identify risks, shape business-aligned designs, and surface tradeoffs.
• Lock Down Systems: Build and harden systems across teams, including online, offline, and hybrid environments. This includes responsibilities like code signing, secure deployment, and access control.
• Detect & Respond: Develop high-signal detection capabilities for both cloud and on-chain environments. Automate alerts, simulate threats, and drive response plans to proactively address compromises.
• Audit What Matters: Assess security across the stack, from code to cloud. Review internal systems and open-source dependencies, fix vulnerabilities, and help teams prioritize security efforts.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience working in production environments at any scale.
• Ideally 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
• Curiosity to dive deep into emerging crypto protocols, including specifications, code, and edge cases.
• Strong judgment to prioritize security efforts and a bias for shipping secure systems.

• Languages: Go, Rust, Typescript
• Protocols: Substrate, Tendermint, and many more
• Security: System hardening (hardware, libraries, tooling), physical security, and environmental monitoring.
