Requirements

  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years), or equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience
  • Ability to read, write, understand and follow written and oral English instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Good time-management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to accommodate sudden schedule changes to meet protocol expectations

  • Knowledge of cooking terminology and standard procedures

  • Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds (environmental: able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance)

  • Tolerance for fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold), loud noises (equipment/machinery), some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)
  • May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents

Responsibilities

  • Prepares meals for all in-house subjects, clients and staff following standard recipes, departmental operating procedures and per study protocol
  • Properly documents all job-specific data and follows all processes and procedures of the clinic, FDA and Health Department quality standards and expectations
  • Maintains inventory of food supplies and places orders with approved vendors as needed
  • Cooks hot menu items, salads, sandwiches and desserts for in-house subjects and staff on a daily basis
  • Prepares side dishes and simple menu items
  • Ensures the cleanliness of refrigerated and non-refrigerated storage areas
  • Records temperatures of freezers and refrigerators, in addition to food safety temperature logs daily
  • Labels and correctly stores away food
  • Cleans cooking areas and equipment used during food preparation
  • May oversee the receiving, storing and utilization of food supplies
