Requirements

A CPA designation is required. Proven expertise in subscription-based revenue models, particularly in SaaS financial practices, is essential. Candidates should have a strong focus on driving automation and improving financial processes for efficiency and scalability. Exceptional communication skills are necessary to convey complex financial concepts clearly to various stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including knowledge of functions like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis, is required. Familiarity with systems such as NetSuite, Stripe, and Salesforce is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

The Controller will lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team of 8, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. They will oversee all accounting operations, including journal entries, payroll, commissions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, statutory reporting, and daily operations in accordance with Canadian ASPE. Ensuring adherence to internal controls and company policies, they will update financial accounting policies as needed. The Controller will maintain a monthly close calendar, ensuring all deadlines for reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis are met. They will prepare consolidated financial statements and lead initiatives to identify operational cost efficiencies. Additionally, they will lead the automation of accounting system integrations with the CRM, acting as project manager for successful implementation.
