Requirements

  • Ability to troubleshoot on analog and digital optics to support connectivity to the node, remote OLT/vBNG, or OLT, and channelized and non-channelized optical signals, including use of software and application-based tools
  • Ability to isolate and resolve fiber optic signal impairments for Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) and Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) networks
  • Ability to perform inspections of fiber optic equipment such as connectors, patch panels, optical splitters, and attenuators
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128 (when applicable)
  • Ability to check in each job in a timely manner and complete associated paperwork with each work order
  • Availability to respond to and repair service interruptions during regular business hours, shift work, or "On-calls," including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and 10-hour days for 4 days a week
  • Ability to clean, maintain, and stock vehicle and equipment; properly operate and maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment; report vehicle repair needs, accidents, losses, injuries, or property damage
  • Ability to drive company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner and work/travel in inclement weather

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine plant maintenance, troubleshooting calls, surveys, locates, outage repair, track and repair Cumulative Leakage Index (CLI), power supply maintenance, and construction maintenance in accordance with Company procedures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve service failures related to Company services such as Video (analog and digital), Comcast Digital Voice (CDV), and Comcast High Speed Data (CHSI) inclusive of Home Networking and Home Plug
  • Perform construction maintenance duties such as splicing aerial/underground coaxial cable and equipment to restore cable plant to system specification, splicing and activating new coaxial plant, repairing/replacing damaged aerial/underground plant, and inspecting/repairing/replacing power supplies
  • Respond to damage scenarios, initiate fixes, and collaborate with departments such as Construction, Head End, and Operations to resolve complex network issues
  • Perform CLI ride-out and track/repair leakage as necessary
  • Record all details of work for entry in customer's account and complete associated paperwork
