Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of records coding experience or equivalent, demonstrating the ability to perform functions in a Microsoft Windows environment, maintain a high level of detail-oriented accuracy, and make sound decisions. Previous experience with an electronic medical record system is also required.
The Coder will abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes, minor surgical procedures, and HCPCS codes from provider documentation, assigning appropriate CPT-4, ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers. They will research simple coding/billing issues for physicians, analyze medical records to determine coding appropriateness and potential abuse patterns, and collaborate with the Coding/Charge/Audit Analyst(s) to resolve issues. The role also involves demonstrating good communication and teamwork skills.
