  • Previous agricultural or production experience preferred
  • Willing to work rotating schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off, including holidays, 6:10 am to 4:10 pm (subject to change)
  • Comply with biosecurity requirements: shower, change clothing/footwear, no jewelry except medical ID, cover body piercings, sign agreement to avoid avian species, abide by biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines
  • Physically able to: use safe lifting techniques, regularly stoop/bend to floor level, lift/move up to 30 pounds (feed buckets, tools, carts), stand majority of shift on various surfaces (concrete, shavings), walk, sit, use hands to handle/feel objects/controls, read

Responsibilities

  • Feeds, waters, and weighs birds according to standards (10%)
  • Cleans and disinfects waterers, changes nest pads, dusts houses, maintains feed room cleanliness, performs other housekeeping duties (10%)
  • Records information such as egg numbers (hen numbers on egg), bird weights, medications, feed/water intake, mortality (10%)
  • Collects eggs from floor level trap nests, releases hens from nests, records number of eggs laid by each hen (50%)
  • Monitors for floor and nest eggs, trains hens to use nests to eliminate them (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned: inspects poultry for diseases and removes weak/ill/dead birds, monitors feed/water/lighting/ventilation systems, sanitizes breakroom/vehicles, euthanizes weak/ill birds per company policy (10%)
