  • Willing to sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Ability to perform physical demands of the job in a biosecure environment (details not fully specified)

Responsibilities

  • Feed and water birds according to schedules (25%)
  • Walk floors daily to inspect water lines, pick up and dispose of mortality, and examine birds for signs of weak or sick birds (25%)
  • Pull trailer via farm truck to feed conversion houses to load birds ready for grow houses; transfer birds from trailer to growout house via 3’ x 3’ door and place in appropriate pens (25%)
  • Perform simple math to calculate pen size based on bird numbers, adjust for adequate feeder, water, and space; place pen partitions; manage floor by turning/adding shavings and checking ventilation (15%)
  • Sort birds by breast size (fleshing); assist farm crew with killvac; collect weekly samples for corporate lab (cleft palate swabs, feed, shavings) (25%)
  • Inspect birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly
  • Maintenance and sanitation of breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles
  • Vaccinate and isolate birds for disease control; administer medications (e.g., vitamins) as needed
  • Properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy
  • Other duties as assigned
