Requirements

  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Preferred: Previous agricultural or production experience
  • Must comply with biosecurity/animal welfare requirements, including showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility, and no jewelry may be worn on the job
  • Willingness to work Sunday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm or until complete, with alternate Wednesday from 5:10 am to 3:10 pm or until complete (schedule subject to change based on production needs)
  • Ability to pass background check if required

Responsibilities

  • Pick up eggs from houses in laying, traps, and cages sections and deliver to hatchery (50%)
  • Operate egg sanitizer by placing and removing eggs on a conveyor belt
  • Grade eggs by observing shell color, quality, and texture to identify substandard eggs
  • Place hatching eggs in buggies as identified by line, flock#, and/or hen#
  • Pack eggs in cases for international orders
  • Place substandard eggs (broken, dirty, etc.) in container for disposal
  • Load PS/SS eggs on truck and deliver to front egg room for pick up by off-site driver (10%)
  • Assist with loading of PS/SS egg racks on truck for transport to off-site hatchery
  • Monitor hatchery environment hourly for proper temperature and humidity levels and report issues as needed (10%)
  • Operate tray washer to wash/disinfect flats and hatcher trays (20%)
  • Disinfect crates daily and perform thorough cleaning weekly
  • Operate foamer to disinfect egg van after each pickup
  • Fumigate specified areas of facility as required
  • Operate high pressure sprayer and water hose to clean and sanitize egg room and hatchery vehicles daily
  • Remove waste at end of shift
  • Other duties as assigned, such as on alternate Wednesday performing Hatchery Processing duties, maintaining vehicle by checking fluid levels, filters, and tire pressure, and maintaining a clean and organized work/break area (10%)
