  • Comply with biosecurity protocols: showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering facility; no jewelry except medical ID; body piercings covered
  • Physically able to: stand majority of shift on concrete floor with shavings; walk; sit; use hands to finger/handle/feel; reach with hands/arms; balance; climb ladders; stoop/bend repeatedly; talk/hear; drive vehicle within farm
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds (with two team members) for items like partitions/boxes of chicks; occasionally lift/move up to 30 pounds (e.g., feed/shavings) using tools like shovel/pitchfork
  • Use safe lifting techniques
  • Available for schedule: Monday-Friday (including holidays), 6:50 am - 2:50 pm, averaging 40 hours/week (subject to change)

Responsibilities

  • Feeds and waters birds according to schedule (30%)
  • Walks floors daily to examine birds for signs of illness or injury, treats according to instructions, picks up and disposes of mortality (20%)
  • Places pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source (20%)
  • Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens, performs routine housekeeping duties, repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc.) (10%)
  • Records information according to instructions (e.g., line, MG, bird weights, feed/water intake, mortality) (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned: inspects birds for quality/progress by weighing weekly; sanitizes breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, vehicles; euthanizes weak/ill birds or those on cull list per company policy (10%)
