Requirements

  • Reside in the United States
  • Previous agricultural or production experience preferred
  • Perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for recording information
  • Comply with biosecurity protocols (showering, changing clothing/footwear, no jewelry except medical ID)
  • Adhere to animal welfare guidelines for handling roosters and hens

Responsibilities

  • Catch rooster and control for milking per animal welfare guidelines (25%)
  • Stimulate male and collect semen into vial, visually observe for viability (25%)
  • Catch hen, invert, and present oviduct for insemination per animal welfare guidelines (25%)
  • Record information (bird weight, medications, feed intake, mortality) using simple math per Cobb standards (15%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned (10%), including moving birds, lab sample swabs, operating hoses, maintaining equipment/foot pans/hand sanitizer, cleaning/disinfecting work areas
  • Inspect birds for quality/progress, weigh birds weekly, perform swabbing, sanitize areas/equipment/vehicles, euthanize weak/ill birds per policy
  • Supervise and assist with recording genealogy, bird weight, medications, feed intake, mortality
  • Assist with semen quality evaluation (motility, mobility, density, color, volume) and input data using tablets/laptops/scanners
  • Work up to 1,500 birds/day (180-240/hour) in rotation with team in egg production areas
