  • Ability to work independently with minimal coaching
  • Ability to manage a heavy caseload of 150+ complex/specialty claims with financial limits of $20,000 to $25,000
  • Deep technical expertise in claims handling and utilizing multiple systems
  • In-depth understanding of claim operations and key stakeholders
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a structured work environment
  • Proven track record of handling specialty or complex claims
  • Analytical skills to make decisions and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan, organize, negotiate, and embrace new challenges
  • Appropriate adjuster's license in all required states
  • Compliance with state-by-state continuing education requirements

Responsibilities

  • Adjudicate claims (70%): Investigate and determine coverage application; recommend settlements outside authority limits; evaluate and settle complex/specialty claims; understand policy coverage and recognize issues needing supervisor involvement; review claim assignments; manage diaries; handle full lifecycle of claims; utilize systems for processing
  • Follow regulatory and jurisdictional requirements, including state regulations and guidelines
  • Serve as a resource for less experienced staff, providing training and support
  • Solve obstacles in claims process without supervisory approval; communicate action plans
  • Involve supervisor for claims triggering special instructions
  • Exercise judgment to analyze exposure, determine actions, and settle claims
  • Interact extensively with parties involved in claims
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in claim handling
  • Provide training and mentoring to adjusters
  • Make informed, confident, timely decisions
  • Service delivery to customers (10%): Promptly answer inbound calls; maintain call records; communicate effectively with clients/borrowers; respond to emails within 4-8 hours; follow call policies/procedures; resolve client escalations
  • Thorough understanding of claims compliance and state regulations (20%): Maintain licenses; follow continuing education; comply with state statutes on adjudication; meet company and underwriter standards on timeliness, accuracy, and service
