Requirements

  • Current student pursuing B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience (highly preferred)
  • Experience in CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience in explicit dynamics (a plus)
  • Experienced with scripting such as Python, Excel Macro (a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Self-starter with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others

Responsibilities

  • Learn and use building codes and design codes, performing hand calculations and using commercially available finite element analysis software such as ANSYS
  • Create engineering design calculation packages that considers factors like static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses; evaluate the durability of structural components for low and high cycle fatigue
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software
  • Prepare reports and presentations on design and analysis work; help review and improve structural material selection and structural component specifications
  • Participate in reviews to ensure designs are safe and operable
  • Other duties as assigned
