Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care and services to residents to meet physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and maintain/improve independent function
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting, serving/collecting food trays, feeding, ambulation)
  • Answer call lights, ensure clean environment, transport patients, orient/reorient residents for safety
  • Perform vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, weight) and document concise, factual information
  • Assist with specific medical care activities per policy/procedure (e.g., restorative exercises, collecting specimens, assessing/documenting cares)
  • Provide feedback to nursing staff on resident status changes, pain management, and concerns
  • Restock supplies, maintain clean/safe work environment, perform cleaning procedures
  • Participate in emotional, educational, and spiritual support for residents and families
  • Comply with resident rights (confidentiality, privacy), report abuse or misappropriation of property
  • Follow policies/procedures for fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster, universal precautions, infection control, hazardous/chemical communication
