Requirements

  • 21+ years of age
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records
  • Ability to touch freight: lift, push, or move product weighing an average of 40-60 pounds and as much as 100 pounds repeatedly; frequently lift/push/move 1-75 pounds up to 100 pounds; reach up to 72” to stack/unstack pallets; constantly bend and twist
  • Submit to pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
  • Preferred Requirements
  • 1 year customer delivery experience
  • 6 months hand cart/hand truck experience
  • 6 months Food and Beverage experience
  • 2 years consistent work history

Responsibilities

  • Run daily routes with frequent stops efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times
  • Operate in a cross-dock model: pick up loaded truck from nightly delivery at assigned loading dock and return empty truck to assigned lot at end of route
  • Load packages onto hand trucks and unload product at each stop in designated order
  • Place unloaded product in designated customer storage areas (may include transporting down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions)
  • Verify delivery of items with customer, obtain proper signatures, contact management for invoice discrepancies, and communicate all errors/returns
  • Call in when customer does not receive entire order (shorts)
  • Handle customer complaints professionally
  • Handle company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, perform pre-trip inspection, and complete pre-trip/post-trip responsibilities per DOT regulations and Sysco policies
  • Occasionally assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
  • Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
