Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred; must be able to read, write, and communicate in English related to the job and safety regulations; basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with doubles endorsements, issued by state of legal residence; DOT qualified
  • Able to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) medical requirements
  • Registered to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Six (6) months commercial driving experience required
  • Minimum 6 months driving with doubles endorsements
  • Comfortable working overnight when needed
  • Ability to use or learn to use all equipment and tools for the job
  • Ability to perform all job functions safely
  • Ability to work scheduled/assigned times and required overtime
  • Knowledge or ability to learn MSDS information for materials used
  • Ability to apply tire chains
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal form
  • Ability to back up trailers within 1 week
  • Ability to work in all climates and extreme weather conditions
  • Adherence to all safety practices and company policies

Responsibilities

  • Refuel all tractors and trailers returned to the yard daily
  • Track, monitor, and measure fuel dispensed into each unit with strong organizational skills
  • Keep accurate nightly records to ensure all trucks are fueled on time
  • Record and monitor tank levels to ensure fuel availability
  • Check fluids, oil, and perform routine maintenance checks on tractors and reefer units
  • Perform 10-point fuel island safety inspection on the fleet
  • Check oil levels in all equipment
  • Maintain record keeping of fuel
  • Perform minor cleaning on fleet when required
  • Serve as back-up Shuttle Driver when needed, including safely driving trucks to and from remote dispatch sites
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections
