Requirements

  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU)
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Completion of all required continuing medical education (CME) courses
  • Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging
  • Proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and pertussis, annual influenza vaccination, and COVID-19 vaccination
  • Adherence to VA infection control measures, including tuberculosis testing and bloodborne pathogen training
  • Maintenance of professional liability insurance with coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Submit resume, proof of credentials, two years of case logs with substantial and recent inpatient experience, and cover letter

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical urology services, including consultations, cystoscopies, trans-urethral resection of bladder tumors, and other related procedures (approx. 99%)
  • Perform urological surgeries and specialty exams such as compensation and pension evaluations
  • Communicate test results to patients and providers in a timely manner
  • Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions to patients
  • Participate in Quality Management, Peer Review, and Performance Evaluation (FPPE/OPPE) activities (approx. 1%)
  • Attend required staff meetings and mandatory VA training
  • Maintain active licensure, board certification, and credentialing documentation at all times
  • Complete annual training on privacy, HIPAA, infection control, and other required VA courses
  • Be available for on-call duties: weeknights averaging 10 days per month (within 15 minutes by phone and on-site within 60 minutes), and one weekend per month
