Physician Reviewer - Orthopedic Surgery (Spine Surgery)

Position Overview

Dane Street, a leading Independent Review Organization and national provider of Utilization Review services, is expanding its physician panel. This presents an opportunity for physicians seeking non-traditional work and supplemental income. This is a telework opportunity where physicians can manage a caseload customized to their schedule. Our physician panel consists of independent contract reviewers (1099) compensated on a per-case basis. We are seeking physicians with active New York licenses in Orthopedic Surgery, specifically with a focus on Spine Surgery, to assess the medical necessity of treatment requests and previously denied services during appeals.

Requirements

  • Board Certified
  • 5+ years of active practice experience
  • Holds an active medical license in New York

Responsibilities

  • Review assigned PAS Utilization Referrals.
  • Provide quality reports.
  • Complete all referrals by the determined date and time.
  • May require participation in Peer-to-Peer calls.

Note: The average time spent on most reviews is 15-20 minutes, allowing for completion of several cases within an hour. Training and onboarding can be completed in less than one week, enabling you to start earning compensation for reviews while maintaining your active practice.
