Requirements

  • Basic understanding of client/patient treatment plans
  • Ability to monitor and document client/patient behavior
  • Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, signs/symptoms of withdrawal, and when to escalate to medical intervention
  • Appropriate training certifications/permissions for medication oversight/administration (as permitted)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of medications, self-administration, and blood glucose levels
  • Knowledge of agency policies/procedures for medications, storage, destruction, and error reporting
  • Ability to facilitate supervision checks, group education/structured activities, and crisis intervention
  • For Illinois: Ability to serve in on-call for shift coverage

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and supportive care, general oversight, redirection, health monitoring (vital signs), crisis intervention, and communication with treatment team
  • Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients
  • Obtain and record vital signs and relevant medical symptoms per policy or as indicated
  • Oversee medication administration per policy/procedure, adhere to medication policies, work with nursing staff, monitor self-administration (including OTC), maintain records/inventory, document blood glucose, report errors/discrepancies, and follow storage/destruction policies
  • Screen and monitor for signs/symptoms of withdrawal to ensure safety/recovery
  • Facilitate client/patient supervision checks per policy or safety plans
  • For Residential Facility and Withdrawal Management: Ensure monitoring of withdrawal symptoms and escalation needs
  • For Residential Care Facility (RCF): Assist with personal care (grooming, bathing, dressing) when needed
  • Transport clients/patients as needed and provide safe, therapeutic, supportive environment
