Requirements

Trained to assess the function of behavior
Ability to develop and implement individualized plans to address maladaptive behaviors
Strong interpersonal skills for professional and assertive communication with patients, support systems, external professionals, colleagues, and supervisors
Ability to work independently and complete assignments within specified timeframes
Highly proficient in verbal and written communication skills
Capable of walking, sitting, standing, lifting a minimum of 20 pounds, reaching, handling, grasping, manual dexterity, stooping, bending, kneeling, and flexible movements
Must be able to successfully complete aggression control training
Exposure to aggressive/combative patients

Responsibilities

Provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services, including groups, to patients according to clinical standards under supervision of the Clinical leader
Participate in supervision sessions with the Clinical leader, communicate on patient progress, and suggest adjustments to care plans
Regularly monitor effectiveness of interventions, administer outcome measures, review results, and modify interventions as needed in consultation with Clinical leader
Document mental health services, including therapeutic treatment plans, outcome assessments, psychosocial information, and patient care data, according to regulations and payer expectations
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and assist in development of treatment plans
Communicate treatment interventions and support needs for assigned caseload to interdisciplinary team members and support systems
Offer training support to direct care team members (e.g., MHT, nurses, clinic assistants) on cognitive behavioral treatment interventions
Provide parent or support person training and education on supporting CBT interventions and behavioral treatment plans, including positive reinforcement, modeling behaviors, and strategies for challenging situations
Ensure patient safety and facility safety
Support changes in staffing/scheduling as needed for program and patient care
Perform other duties as assigned, such as maintaining knowledge of department processes, pursuing continuing education, and participating in committees or work groups
