Requirements

Basic understanding of client/patient treatment plan
Ability to monitor and document client/patient behavior
Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, signs/symptoms of withdrawal, and when to escalate to medical intervention
Appropriate training certifications/permissions for medication oversight/administration (as permitted)
Ability to maintain accurate records of medications, self-administration, OTC inventory/storage, and blood glucose levels
Adherence to agency policies on medications, storage, destruction, and reporting errors/discrepancies
For Illinois only: Ability to serve in on-call for shift coverage

Responsibilities

Provide direct and supportive care, general oversight of day-to-day activities, redirection of clients/patients
Monitor health (vital signs), intervene/respond to crises, communicate with treatment team
Facilitate group education/structured activities and transport clients/patients as needed
Provide safe, therapeutic, supportive environment
Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients
Obtain and record vital signs and relevant medical symptoms per policy
Oversee medication administration per policy/procedure, adhere to medication policies, work with nursing staff
Document medication self-administration by clients or staff, monitor OTC medications and inventory/storage
Document reported blood glucose levels, maintain equipment per guidelines
Report medication errors/discrepancies per policy
Follow Medication Storage and Destruction Policy & Procedure
Screen/monitor for withdrawal signs/symptoms to ensure safety/recovery (when applicable)
Conduct client/patient supervision checks per policy or safety plan
For Residential Facility and Withdrawal Management: Specific monitoring/escalation for withdrawal
For Residential Care Facility (RCF): Assist with personal care (grooming, bathing, dressing) when needed
