Requirements

  • In depth knowledge of controls designing, modelling and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, Dynasty (GT Suite is good to know)
  • Working knowledge of calibration and data acquisition and analysis tools like CANape, CANalyzer and DATK
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to various supplier software/programs as required to aid calibration and testing activities
  • Working knowledge of LV and HV systems
  • Active collaboration with electrical team to architect electrical layouts for Battery systems
  • Ability to build, modify and debug harness during product commissioning stage
  • Ability to direct MIL and HIL activities based on the current stage of a project to effectively utilize them for early controls debug and validation
  • Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, and monitor projects
  • Abreast with industry standards for battery control, monitoring, and diagnostics as well as academic knowledge of closed loop controls design and analysis
  • Monitor the industry for new tools and techniques as well as components required for effective control system design (including but not limited to power electronic components, sensors, and actuators)
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of controls process flow, its components, and issues

Responsibilities

  • Define controls requirements based on program targets
  • Architect, design and calibrate control systems for E+ES battery products
  • Work in collaboration with process partners from software and testing teams to calibrate and validate various control system to meet these program targets
  • Accountable for delivering timely, high-quality simulation and analysis impacting products/processes and providing clear recommendations to stakeholders
  • Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain and test to robustly deliver new products and improve validation processes
  • Supplier collaboration to integrate new products into existing / new programs
  • Possesses knowledge of tools and techniques for designing and implementing new control systems and processes
  • Conduct project design reviews with project team, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Maintain open communication among project participants and interested parties
  • Communicate reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms for high-impact and cross-functional problems
  • Carries out control process evaluation, diagnosis, and optimization
  • Function as a controls team leader to ensure design activities and priorities are aligned to deliver on the team’s commitments as a whole
  • Developing the battery controls system architecture, MIL/HIL simulations and on-machine integration and de-bug for a wide range of Caterpillar products
