QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred but not essential)
Currently studying Midwifery or Ultrasound (desirable but not essential)

Responsibilities
Assist the Midwife Sonographers in completing daily worklists
Assist patients through the patient journey, verifying their identity, explaining the procedure, reassuring the patient if anxious, making them feel comfortable prior exam, checking safety questionnaires, and making sure patient is properly prepared and dressed for examination
Provide emotional and physical support to patients during treatment, act as chaperone for intimate sonography examinations, follow all policies, procedures, and protocols to always ensure safety and dignity
Transport patients to and from scanning areas, assist patient in changing area, if necessary, assist Midwife Sonographer with safe lifting and positioning during exam
Help to maintain scanning systems and accessory equipment, report any fault with equipment, clean imaging equipment as needed, responsible for knowing how to clean all areas of assigned rooms according to established IP&C policies and protocols, know how to set up ultrasound equipment, follow Ultrasound probe cleaning protocols
Monitor the use of consumables and re-stock clinical areas as required
Complete clerical tasks such as scanning referrals, input of data, maintaining records, adding and updating exam information across different information and patient management systems
