Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in backend software engineering, specifically within the streaming or subscription services industry. Strong experience with cloud technologies, modern tech stacks, and machine learning is desired. Demonstrated ability to write code and demonstrate best practices, as well as providing coaching, technical leadership, and insights within and across teams is expected.
The Backend Software Engineering Manager (Billing Engineer) at Philo will provide technical leadership to the billing team, including input on system architecture and design tradeoffs, as well as coaching other team members and mentoring new hires. They will enhance, implement, deploy, and monitor the Philo multi-biller billing system, collaborate with partners to engineer billing platform solutions, and work closely with marketing, support, finance, and data science teams to optimize billing performance and improve the user experience. They will also contribute to expanding the billing system and serving as an internal subject matter expert on payment and subscription operations and optimization.
