Position Summary: We are looking for a Senior Dev/ops Engineer to join our expanding, fast-paced DevOps team, with a primary focus on the software that is core to our business operations.

Responsibilities

• Assume a leading role within an experienced DevOps team, supporting business-critical services in an AWS cloud hosting environment for a rapidly growing healthcare startup.
• Provide architectural, solutioning, and implementation support for technical requirements, leveraging modern architectural approaches including containers, Kubernetes, AWS tools, services, and serverless technologies. Write code/scripts as necessary to support solutions.
• Lead DevOps projects as part of the DevOps team, taking full responsibility for delivery, including stakeholder communication and change management planning.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines in close collaboration with application engineering teams.
• Understand application and deployment environments, working closely with engineers, QA, and DBAs to ensure all environments are functional and correctly configured.
• Create and maintain the underlying AWS infrastructure for hosted applications and services as required.
• Implement and support observability and alerting tools such as CloudWatch and New Relic for proactive issue resolution.
• Document troubleshooting steps, runbooks, and procedures in an internal knowledge base and actively share knowledge among team members.
• Champion and implement cloud and application security best practices.
• Contribute to the growth and championing of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) approaches using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to address problems and incidents.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, engineering, or a related role.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to company offices for important meetings and team-building events.
• Ability to work independently, proactively seeking answers and seeing tasks through to completion.
• Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools to adapt to advancements in the fast-changing cloud environment.
• Proficient knowledge of essential AWS components, services, and networks (e.g., EC2, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, IAM). Experience with additional components (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB, EMR) is advantageous.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to understand the broader system components and dependencies to assess problems effectively. A commitment to owning issues until resolution is expected.
• Previous software engineering experience.
