The Role

We are looking for an Automotive Content Editor to review, refine, and elevate articles written by our team of expert auto mechanic writers. Your primary goal will be to ensure every piece of content is clear, accurate, on-brand, and genuinely helpful to everyday drivers.

This is a freelance, remote role offering flexible hours with steady editorial assignments.

Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread articles (typically 800–1,500 words) covering car repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance, focusing on technical accuracy and readability.
• Simplify complex automotive concepts to make them easily understandable for non-technical readers.
• Enforce Jerry’s style guide, SEO best practices, and editorial standards to maintain consistency across all content.
• Verify factual details against reputable sources and manufacturer recommendations.
• Provide constructive feedback to writers to foster continuous improvement in content quality.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to maintain Jerry's brand voice and assist in prioritizing content updates.

About You

Qualifications:

• Strong Automotive Knowledge: Comfortable fact-checking repair processes, maintenance intervals, and parts terminology. Experience as a former mechanic, service advisor, or a seasoned auto writer/editor is highly valued.
• Editorial Expertise: Proven experience editing or managing automotive content for digital publications, manuals, blogs, or consumer guides.
• Digital Savvy: Familiarity with Content Management System (CMS) platforms (e.g., WordPress) and a solid understanding of SEO fundamentals (keywords, headers, meta data).
• Excellent Communicator: Ability to transform technical drafts into engaging, reader-friendly content.
• Detail-Driven & Deadline-Reliable: Meticulous in spotting inconsistencies and ensuring all content is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
