Requirements

  • Fully qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Portugal
  • Strong expertise in Portuguese law
  • Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English
  • Based in Madrid or Lisbon (with regular travel to Madrid every two weeks for two days if based in Lisbon)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless collaboration between Portugal and Spain, supporting internal clients and cross-functional teams (including regular travel to Madrid if based in Lisbon)
  • Provide substantive legal advice to Gilead’s Business Units and cross-functional teams on sales and marketing strategies, medical educational activities, public affairs, patient group and community activities, policy, and government affairs initiatives
  • Lead the compliance program in Portugal, providing tools and guidance to Business Units on Gilead’s Business Conduct Manual, Apifarma Code of Practice, competition and consumer law, and anti-bribery
  • Advise on Portuguese legal topics
  • Collaborate with regional and global Legal teams to develop Gilead-wide responses to areas of legal and compliance importance
  • Lead strategic legal advice on Portuguese law and operational support for Business Units and other functions, including identifying and spotting all legal and business issues in day-to-day activities
  • Analyze legal and business issues, becoming the go-to person and contributing effectively to legal and cross-functional projects
  • Assist Business Units in planning and implementing product promotion and launch
