Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Jewish culture, faith, traditions, holidays, and values to cultivate Jewish community and provide visionary leadership for Maryville Hillel
  • Knowledge of the Okanagan Charter’s principles and ability to integrate its framework into wellness and community engagement initiatives
  • Proactive, student-centered approach to creating and managing programs promoting engagement, well-being, and inclusivity for students of all backgrounds
  • Experience or capability in planning, implementing, and assessing wellness programming across the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (e.g., My Best Self Workshop Series addressing mental health, personal development, self-care, and community service like Maryville Reaches Out)
  • Ability to organize and facilitate interfaith events (e.g., interfaith Shabbat dinners) and spiritual programming to promote inclusivity and mutual understanding
  • Skills in partnership-building with university departments (e.g., Student Health and Counseling Services, Center for Student Engagement and Belonging, Residential Life, student organizations), Hillel Advisory Council, Hillel International, synagogues, Jewish Federation, and local/national/global organizations
  • Capacity to oversee operations of the Wellness Hub, providing access to wellness resources, programming, and holistic growth opportunities for students, staff, and faculty
  • Ability to integrate initiatives with university wellness goals to foster emotional, physical, spiritual, and academic success

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for Maryville Hillel, creating a vibrant, welcoming space for Jewish students to connect with faith, culture, and traditions
  • Coordinate programs and initiatives celebrating Jewish holidays, traditions, and values, while fostering interfaith dialogue and understanding
  • Oversee operations and programs of the Wellness Hub, ensuring access to wellness resources and opportunities for holistic growth
  • Plan, implement, and assess wellness programming, such as the My Best Self Workshop Series and community service initiatives like Maryville Reaches Out (MRO)
  • Organize and facilitate interfaith events (e.g., interfaith Shabbat dinners) and spiritual programming for broader campus engagement
  • Integrate wellness and community engagement initiatives with university goals, collaborating across departments like Student Health and Counseling Services, Center for Student Engagement and Belonging, Residential Life, and student organizations
  • Build partnerships with local, national, and global organizations (e.g., Hillel Advisory Council, Hillel International, synagogues, Jewish Federation) to create student opportunities like cultural immersion trips
  • Advance Maryville University’s commitment to holistic wellness, community engagement, and student success through routine decision-making in Wellness Hub and Community Engagement Program Management
