Requirements

  • Juniors, seniors, or recent graduates (within one year of graduation)
  • Strong editing background at school newspapers or elsewhere
  • Aspiring journalists interested in the arts, intending to pursue a career in journalism or cultural criticism
  • Experience editing arts or arts-related copy for college newspaper, literary magazine, or comparable publication (reporting/writing background is a plus)
  • Preference for concentration in literature, history, foreign language, classics, pre-law, music, theater, art history, studio art, architecture, philosophy, political science, or archaeology via coursework or sustained leisure activity
  • Appreciation for Western and non-Western canons
  • Understanding of current issues in the arts
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet daily deadlines
  • Attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Familiarity with technology related to journalism
  • Social media experience with a publication or brand (plus)
  • Familiarity with the Arts in Review section’s content
  • U.S. citizen or holder of green card/visa allowing work in the United States
  • Submit complete application by Nov. 30, 2025: cover letter, résumé, links/cited full text of two best clips, and ≤800-word "Masterpiece" column response in one single PDF (no additional materials)
