Requirements

Experience building a wide breadth of systems across many paradigms (retrieval pipelines, reasoning agents, evaluation harnesses, multimodal integrations, workflow graph systems) and ability to abstract what makes each effective
Experience building with models (compound AI systems, agentic collaboration, ensembling, ReAct, graph-of-thoughts, etc.), not just building or fine-tuning models
Proven track record of research results (publications in top journals, amazing work posted on Twitter, or similar)
Uses AI every day (tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, Perplexity) to accelerate workflow
Strong programming and data analysis skills to build prototypes and perform experiments
Bias towards showing vs telling (demonstrating AI power today rather than discussing long-term ideas)

Responsibilities

Explore a wide range of architectures, modalities, and compositions to identify entirely new classes of AI systems (analogous to hypothesis generation in AI for scientific discovery)
Draw connections across disparate domains to uncover new system archetypes
Experiment with unconventional problem definitions
Develop prototypes that reveal new categories of human–AI collaboration
